When you need a CSV file
CSV is the universal import format. Online shops, CRM and newsletter tools, accounting software and databases usually ask for a CSV file when you import products, contacts or transactions.
Separator, encoding and multiple sheets
- Files are saved as UTF-8 with a byte order mark, so special characters display correctly when opened in Excel.
- Choose comma for most systems, or semicolon for European versions of Excel.
- Workbooks with several sheets give you one CSV per sheet, plus a ZIP with all of them.
- Values are exported as they appear in Excel, including number and date formats.
