Merge PDF Files Into One

An application with a CV, cover letter and certificates, a monthly bundle of invoices, chapters of a report from different people – all of them should end up as one PDF. Add the files, put them in order and merge them into a single document.

The merge runs in your browser, so contracts, IDs and other personal documents are never uploaded.

Merging in the right order

The order of the files in the list is the order of the pages in the merged PDF. Use the arrows or drag the files to sort them before you merge – for example cover letter first, then CV, then certificates. Each file keeps its own pages in their original order.

What the merged PDF contains

  • All pages of all files, one after another, unchanged in quality.
  • Text stays selectable and searchable, images keep their resolution.
  • Pages in different sizes or orientations are kept as they are.
  • Bookmarks and form fields of the single files are not carried over.

Before you send the merged file

Merged PDFs can get large. If an upload form or email has a size limit, compress the merged PDF afterwards. To remove single pages from the result, use the PDF editor. Password-protected PDFs have to be unlocked before they can be merged.

Privacy: your files stay on your device

Merge PDF – questions and answers

How do I merge PDF files into one?

Add two or more PDFs, sort them with the arrows or by dragging, and click “Combine PDFs”. The pages are joined in the order of the list and you download one PDF.

Is merging PDFs the same as combining PDFs?

Yes. Merge and combine mean the same: several PDF files become one. This page uses the same tool as Combine PDF.

How do I merge PDFs without installing software?

Use this page in your browser: the PDFs are merged directly in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, so you need no PDF program and no account. It works the same on Windows, Mac and Linux.

Can I merge PDFs on iPhone or Android?

Yes. Open this page in your phone’s browser, tap “Choose files” and select the PDFs from your files app. The merged PDF is saved like any other download.

How do I change the order before merging?

The order of the files in the list is the order of the pages in the merged PDF. Drag a file or use the arrows to move it up or down before you merge. To remove single pages afterwards, use Delete PDF pages.

Does merging reduce the quality of my PDFs?

No. The pages are copied unchanged, so text stays selectable and images keep their resolution. Pages in different sizes or orientations are kept exactly as they are.

How many PDFs can I merge at once?

There is no fixed limit on the number of files; each PDF can be up to 100 MB. Because everything happens in your browser, very large batches depend on your device’s memory.

Can I merge password-protected PDFs?

No. A PDF with a password has to be unlocked first – the tool shows a message instead of merging it. Remove the password in the program you used to protect the file, then add it again.

The merged PDF is too large to email – what can I do?

Compress it: open the merged file in Reduce PDF size and choose a compression level. PDFs with scans or photos usually shrink a lot; if it is still too big, split the PDF into parts.

Are my files uploaded when I merge them?

No. The PDFs are merged in your browser on your own device and are never uploaded to a server or stored. You can merge contracts, IDs or application documents without sharing them.
